This website uses so-called “cookies”. These are small text files that we transmit via our web server to the cookie file of your browser on your computer’s hard drive. The use of cookies increases the user-friendliness and security of our website. We exclusively use session cookies that remain in your browser’s cookie file until you leave our website and are automatically deleted after your visit ends. You can also block or delete cookies if they have already been stored on your computer. If you want to know more about how you can take these steps, please use the “help” function in your browser. Please note that blocking or deleting cookies may impair your online experience and could prevent you from fully using this website.
Google Analytics
This website uses “Google Analytics”, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA, (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer to help analyze how you use the website. We process your data based on our predominant legitimate interest to create a cost-effective, easy-to-use website access statistics (Art 6 Para 1 lit f General Data Protection Regulation). The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website (including your IP address and the URLs of the accessed websites) is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the USA. We do not store any of your data collected in connection with Google Analytics. We only use Google Analytics with activated IP anonymization. This means that Google will truncate/anonymize the IP address within member states of the European Union or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to and shortened by Google servers in the USA. Facebook, Social Plugins
Our website uses social plugins (“Plugins”) from the social network www.facebook.com, operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2 Ireland (“Facebook”). The plugins can be recognized by one of the Facebook logos (white “f” on blue tile, the terms “Like”, “Share” or a “thumbs up” sign) or are marked with “Facebook Social Plugin”. Information about all Facebook plugins can be found at the following link: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.
The plugin establishes a direct connection between your browser and Facebook’s servers. We have no influence on the nature and extent of data that the plugin transmits to Facebook’s servers. Information about this can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/help/186325668085084.
The plugin informs Facebook that you as a user have visited our website. There is a possibility that your IP address will be stored. If you are logged into your Facebook account while visiting our website, this information will be linked to it. If you use the plugin’s functions – for example by sharing or “liking” a post – the corresponding information will also be transmitted to Facebook.
If you want to prevent Facebook from linking this data to your Facebook account, please log out of Facebook before visiting this website.
The purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook as well as your related rights and setting options for protecting your privacy can be found in Facebook’s privacy policy at the following link: www.facebook.com/about/privacy.
Instagram, Social Plugins
Our website uses social plugins (“Plugins”) from the online service Instagram, operated by Instagram LLC., 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA (“Instagram”). The plugins are marked with an Instagram logo, for example in the form of an “Instagram camera”. An overview of Instagram plugins and their appearance can be found here: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/?entry_point=ig_help_center_data_policy_redirect.
When you access a page on our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Instagram’s servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from Instagram to your browser and embedded in the page. Through this integration, Instagram receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you don’t have an Instagram profile or are not currently logged into Instagram. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to an Instagram server in the USA and stored there.
If you are logged into Instagram, Instagram can immediately associate your visit to our website with your Instagram account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the “Instagram camera” button, this information is also transmitted directly to an Instagram server and stored there. The information will also be published on your Instagram account and displayed to your contacts.
For the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by Instagram as well as your related rights and setting options for protecting your privacy, please refer to Instagram’s privacy policy: https://help.instagram.com/155833707900388/.
If you do not want Instagram to directly associate the data collected through our website with your Instagram account, you must log out of Instagram before visiting our website. You can also completely prevent Instagram plugins from loading with add-ons for your browser, e.g. with script blockers.
Pinterest, Social Plugins
Our website uses social plugins from the social network Pinterest, operated by Pinterest Inc., 651 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA (“Pinterest”). When you access a page containing such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Pinterest’s servers. The plugin transmits log data to Pinterest’s server in the USA. This log data may include your IP address, the address of visited websites that also contain Pinterest features, browser type and settings, date and time of the request, your use of Pinterest, and cookies.
For more information about the purpose, scope and further processing and use of data by Pinterest as well as your related rights and options for protecting your privacy, please see Pinterest’s privacy policy: https://help.pinterest.com/en/article/your-privacy-and-data-settings
Notes on Newsletter and Consent
Newsletter Content and Registration Data
We only send newsletters with the consent of recipients or based on legal permission. Our newsletters inform you particularly about events and news. For our newsletter service, we collect your email address as well as your first and last name and possibly your postal address. By subscribing to one of our newsletters, you agree to receive it and to the described procedures.
Consent Declaration, Double-Opt-In and Logging
Newsletter registration occurs either through signing an explicit consent declaration or online in a so-called double-opt-in procedure. After such registration, you receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. This confirmation is necessary to prevent registration with foreign email addresses.
We log newsletter registrations to be able to prove the registration process according to legal requirements. This includes the registration and confirmation time as well as the IP address. If you make changes to your data stored at MailChimp (see point 7.3 regarding MailChimp), these are also logged.
Use of “MailChimp” Mailing Service
We send our newsletters using “MailChimp”, a newsletter delivery platform from US provider Rocket Science Group, LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA.
The email addresses, first and last names of our newsletter recipients and other data described in these newsletter notes are stored on MailChimp’s servers in the USA. MailChimp uses this information to send and analyze newsletters on our behalf. Furthermore, according to its own information, MailChimp may use this data to optimize or improve its own services, e.g. for technical optimization of sending and newsletter display, for economic purposes, or to determine which countries recipients come from. However, MailChimp does not use our newsletter recipients’ data to contact them directly and does not share data with third parties.
MailChimp is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and thus commits to comply with EU data protection requirements. Additionally, we have concluded a “Data Processing Agreement” with MailChimp, in which MailChimp commits to protect your personal data and process it only according to applicable data protection regulations and on our behalf.
Statistical Collection and Analysis
The newsletters contain a “web beacon”, which is a pixel-sized file retrieved from MailChimp’s server when the newsletter is opened. During this retrieval, technical information such as information about the browser and your system, your IP address, and the time of retrieval is initially collected. This information is used for technical improvement of services based on technical data or target groups and their reading behavior, based on their access locations (which can be determined using the IP address) or access times.
Statistical collection also includes determining whether newsletters are opened, when they are opened, and which links are clicked. We use these evaluations to recognize our users’ reading habits and improve our newsletter content accordingly. We do not observe individual users.
Online Access and Data Management
There are cases where we direct newsletter recipients to MailChimp’s websites. For example, our newsletters contain a link allowing newsletter recipients to access newsletters online (e.g., in case of display problems in the email program). Furthermore, newsletter recipients can correct their data, such as email address, subsequently. Similarly, MailChimp’s privacy policy is only accessible on their site.
In this context, we point out that cookies are used on MailChimp’s websites and thus personal data is processed by MailChimp, their partners, and service providers used (e.g., Google Analytics). We have no influence on this data collection. Further information can be found in MailChimp’s privacy policy.
Unsubscription/Withdrawal
You can unsubscribe from our newsletters at any time. A link to unsubscribe from a newsletter can be found at the end of each newsletter. You can also send us an email at […]. Subsequently, we delete your data that we processed in connection with the newsletter delivery.
Legal Bases
The newsletter sending occurs based on your consent according to Art 6 Para 1 lit a and Art 7 GDPR. The use of the mailing service MailChimp, conducting statistical surveys and analyses, and logging the registration process occur based on our legitimate interests according to Art 6 Para 1 lit f GDPR.
Data Security
We have taken appropriate technical and organizational precautions to protect your data from unauthorized, unlawful, or accidental access, processing, use, manipulation, loss, or destruction.
Despite all our measures, it cannot be excluded that information you provide to us via the internet may be viewed and used by other persons. Please note in particular that unencrypted emails sent via the internet are not sufficiently protected from unauthorized access by third parties. For confidential information, we therefore recommend using postal mail.
External Links
Our website contains links to other websites. Despite careful content control, we assume no liability for external links, as we cannot influence the content and operation of third-party websites.
Changes to the Privacy Policy
In case of changes to the legal situation or the services, service and user benefits, we will update the privacy policy accordingly. If these changes also affect user consents, changes will only be made after their prior consent.
Rights of Users/Affected Persons and Newsletter Recipients
As a website user and newsletter recipient, you have the right to information about your personal data processed by us. Furthermore, you have a right to correction, data transfer, objection, restriction of processing, and blocking or deletion of incorrect or unlawfully processed data. You have the right at any time to withdraw consent given for the processing of your personal data. This results in us no longer being allowed to continue the data processing based on this consent for the future.
If your personal data is processed based on legitimate interests according to Art 6 Para 1 lit f GDPR, you have the right according to Art 21 GDPR to object to the processing of your personal data if there are grounds relating to your particular situation.
Please direct your submissions to exercise your affected person’s rights according to this point 11 to our contact details listed under point 12.
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates applicable data protection law or your data protection rights have been violated in any other way, you have the right to complain to the supervisory authority. In Austria, the Data Protection Authority is responsible for this.
